Friday Show and Tell

TGIF! Good Morning everyone!

When I was little and stayed at my Grandparents house one of my favorite things to do was play paper dolls. And not the kind of dolls that you bought and cut out, mine were cut out of the Sears, JC Penney and Montgomery Ward catalogs. I could hardly wait until a new catalog would come out so that I could have the old one to cut up.
Believe it or not, I saved all my paper dolls from the 1970's! Tuesday when I was home sick I thought about them and went searching and sure enough I found them. Opening the lid to those boxes was like taking a trip back in time. I saw so many of my "old friends".
Check out those 1970's clothes! I love them!
This particular model, modeled for many years and was my favorite, I thought she was so beautiful (and still do)
I also loved the dolls dressed in long dresses. I especially love the lt blue dress third from the left. I would so wear that now!
Look at all the "patch work" clothes. I really like the patchwork dress on the little doll near the center.
Showing ones middiff was even popular in the 70's, but not at my house! Though I do like that red bandana fabric skirt.
Look at all the pink and check out the wide legs on some of those pants along with the ever popular mini skirt!

Do little girls still with paper dolls anymore? I played with mine until I was a teenager! I would cut out the dolls with the outfits I liked, then I would show my great aunt and she and I would get the fabric and make them!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

In the UK there used to be a magazine called the Bunty which had a paper doll on the back page and new paper clothes (with tabs to hold them in place) every week. One of my school friends got it - I was still with the Beano and the Dandy comics! Bet those brought back some memories for you. I still have all the pony books from my childhood . . . Jennie xxx

I loved paper dolls. In fact almost bought some today for a gift. Can't believe you still have yours. Did you ever have the magnet ones? Those were my favorite!

Now, why didn't I think of that when I was young? I did cut them out, but I pasted them all over my room...I know I wore a lot of those outfits!

Warm Wishes,
Susie

Oh my gosh, I WORE some of those clothes, hahaha. Loved this post, boy did it bring back memories.

I loved paper dolls when I was a little girl. My own daughters never got too much into them; they instead made dolls out of paper clips and made their own clothes for "Paper Clipper" and "Clipper Paper," as they called their "dolls."

Loved this post, thanks so much!

What hours of fun we had cutting paper dolls out of old catalogs. I have to wonder if any one sits still long enough these days for quiet pursuits.

I remember paper dolls! I had some too. I used to get frustrated because those little tabs that fold over the doll would eventually fall off.
Your favorite long dress looks like the dress I made for my daughter when she went to the tolo. That was way back in the 60's Her dress was pink and she loved it.

I didn't have paper dolls, I had colorforms. Does anyone remember those?

I'd love to see your attic or where ever your store your keepsakes!

I loved my paperdolls. Mine were much more vintage. I like the 'little girl' dolls. My daughters never seemed interested in them at all.

Thanks for the memory!
