Good Morning! Just checking in with some of my yard sale finds from yesterday! We went to a church yardsale in our town. Church yard sales are the best! Lots of stuff under one roof, and all proceeds were going to the youth mission team.
The first thing I spotted was this old silverplated tea pot. I loved it's shape and for $3.00 it was a steal!. Then on another table I spotted the Peter Rabbit bowl made by Wedgewood, its was .10! The small bowl said Sears Roebuck on the back and it was .10 also. I also bought 8 small craft books that were .10 each and two small cookbooks also .10. I really like the one called "Party Ideas in Action" There is no copyright date in the booklet and on the back cover it says Southern States Cooperative. There is lots of fun crafts and food in there.

I also bought a yellow skirt with some small birdhouses around the bottom for .50.

When we got home I tried a new squash recipe. I tell you I am becoming pretty creative in ways to fix the squash that is coming out of out ears! I know you can freeze it, but I just don't like it frozen. Below is the recipe, it is really good with just the right amount of "zestiness" not to hot but still just a little spicy. This is from Southern Living Annual 1980.

Zippy Squash Casserole
5 large yellow squash
2 tbls butter
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 medium onion chopped
1/2 c. celery, chopped
3 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
1- 2 oz. jar pimentos
1 tbls green chilies
1/2 tea salt
1/4 tea garlic salt
1/8 tea pepper
1/2 c soft breadcrumbs
1 tbls butter melted
Wash squash trim off ends, slice and place in boiling salted water. Cook 15-120 minutes or until tender. Drain. Combine next 10 ingredients; add squash, stirring well. Spoon mixture into a buttered casserole dish. Combine breadcrumbs and melted butter, sprinkle over the top. Bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Delicious!

Have a blessed Sabbath!

Linda

You found some great bargains at the sale! That teapot is lovely!

Squash1 We haven't had a garden for years, but I remember the first one. Neither my husband nor I had ever planted a garden before. We planted WAY too much. We learned to love squash and I learned to cook it a million ways!

Thanks for your kind comment. Some others have mentioned stalking. Is that something that happens? I guess... I'm sure it does. You weren't included in my sadness. *smile*
