Friday Show and Tell!

Join Kelli over at http://kellishouse,blogspot.com for Show and Tell. It's been awhile since I have participated in Show and Tell and I have missed it!
Today I thought I would show you some of the special ornaments on my trees.
This very old ornament belonged to my Grandmother (who is 95 years old!) when she was a child. It was given to her at a Sunday school Christmas party. Over the last 90 years time and use has taken a toll on it. After this year, I am going to frame it and keep it out all year long.
Have you ever seen one of these on a tree??? Yngwie place this "binky" on the Christmas tree 14 years ago, when he was two, and it has gone on the tree every year since.
This old Santa also belonged to my Grandmother. This was given to her by her aunt.
Any child of the late 1960's early 1970's remember her? It's Dawn! I love small dolls and used several of them on my tree. I guess I got a little heavy handed with my ornaments this year and ran out before I finished decorating all the way around. So I pondered for a moment, what could I use to finish the tree? Then it hit me! I ran into my craft room and pulled out a couple of boxes of Happy Meal toys, twisted floral wire around them and hung them on the tree! That is why Dora The Explorer is hanging from my tree.

Each year we buy one new ornament for our tree. This year it was this glass Hamburger!
This is our Living room tree! It is 12 foot tall and his a real 'bear" to put up and take down, but once completed, we love it!

This is our family room tree. Mostly Hallmark ornaments, but also some handmade and vintage ornaments as well. I have never been able to figure out how to take a good picture of the tree with just the Christmas lights on with my digital camera. It always turns out blurry.

I hope everyone has a great weekend

Blessings

Linda

I remember Dawn, I can't remember if I had her or my sister had her.

Linda! My favorite is the fact that Yngwie put that binky on the tree and it still comes out every year. Makes me smile...

Your livingroom tree is spectacular. My favorite of your ornaments is your grandmothers chilhood treasure. You are so fortunate to have it.

Love that first one! I think I'd keep it out, too. No, I have never seen a binkie on a tree! But I think it's neat. And wow, that tree in your living room is humongous!! Both are lovely.

Wow, what a marvelous 12-ft tree! I love all the unusual ornaments, especially the binky, and the hamburger!

Your grandmother's ornaments are very special. Nice idea to frame that one and keep it up!

I hope to see your doll collection some day!

Katherine

What's on top of the family room tree? I can't see it very well.

Wow. I love it. I thought I even saw that "Toy Story" cowboy's boots sticking over the edge of a photo frame. I love the binky. Those are the family traditions that are so unique -- a lot like the names kids give to people and things that just stick and become a part of the vocabulary. Your vintage ornaments are beautiful. I do love the hamburger, but who is that to the left, with the skinny little legs?
Love,
Nancy

Your ornaments are beautiful. I've never seen the glass hamburgers. It's quite cute, but my favorites are the ones that were your grandmothers. Reminds me of those that hung on grandmas and moms tree when I was a child.

Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Mary

Ohhhhh you have such neat ornaments! I have one identical to the first one you showed that is from your grandmother! I have mine hanging on my dining room hutch, it is neat to know that it is about 90 years old! I think the little binky is the most precious though!

Merry Christmas! Sharon

Those trees are BIG! I can see why you might run out of ornaments before you finish. I love your creative solution to the problem. I also love the whimsy that the dolls, Dora and the hamburger give to it--A true Family tree! Your post made me smile!:-)
