Friday Show and Tell

This weeks show and tell is somewhat bitter-sweet. My dear friend Shirley is moving away into a much smaller house and has decided to simplify her life by getting rid of things she doesn't use frequently. So she has given me some pieces of her grandmothers crystal.Shirley gave me this platter and small bowl a couple of years ago for my birthday. She said she never used it and kept it packed away. Knowing how much I like to entertain, she gave it to me. I can't tell you how many times I have used it. It is perfect for a fruit tray. Isn't the etching beautiful?

It really is hard to get a picture of crystal to show up well in a photo! This is the bud vase that she gave me this week, holding some of the tulips from my garden. I love the shape of this vase.

And last but not least, here is what I call a "pickle" dish. But wouldn't crimson colored cranberry sauce look beautiful in it! I am really going to miss her living nearby, but she has decided to retire and move closer to her daughter and grandsons and I know she is going to love that and if we meet half way it won't be too much of a drive for us to see each other occasionally too.

Stop over at http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ for more show and tell fun!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Blessings

Linda

Very beautiful crystal pieces, Linda! Not only pretty to look at and useful in entertaining, but a wonderful reminder of the friendship you share with your friend! I hope you can meet halfway and visit often with her! Can you imagine how much chatter there will be trying to catch up on all the news!? :o)

Beautiful crystal. I'm sure that Shirley knew that you would take good care and love these pieces and that's why she graced you with them. Your tulips are beautiful. Pass the cranberry sauce please.

Oh, Linda, I understand what you are feeling. My life long closest friend moved about 1,500 miles away 7 years ago. Don't let the move change your friendship too much. You will just have to learn to make the most of your visits together - more phone calls and
e-mails and maybe even a few weekend shopping trips a year! A good friend is a rare thing so you and your friend will find a way to make it work. Your crystal is beautiful and a great representation of your friendship.

You have some lovely treasures to remember your friend by. I love those lovely tulips too. The pale pink one looks like cotton candy!
