Friday Show and Tell

Each Friday Kelli at http://kellishouse.blogspot.com/ hosts Show and Tell! Head over her way and check out all the wonderful treasures!

I have been wanting to show this for weeks but it was just finished this week-end. This is my new sewing/craft room!
I dismantled our guest room and my husband built the cabinets! The cabinets are oak and the counter top is a laminate called "Butternut". I have under the counter lighting which I LOVE!
Now I have easily available spaces for my craft supplies. I was forever re-buying things that I already had but couldn't find.
I have all my scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies in one area and all my sewing supplies in another. The lady in the picture is my great aunt Clara. She taught me to crochet and tried very hard to teach me to sew, but I was more interested in climbing trees and playing football. My mother in law finally taught we to sew when I was about 22.

This is one of my favortie things in my new craft room! The built in ironing board! No more wobbily (is that a word?) ironing board with the iron falling off everytime I used it! Plus it just folds into the wall and is out of sight!

The bookcase holds all my craft and sewing books, along with some Mary Englebreit, Martha Stewart Living and Country Living magazines. My In-Laws gave me the old timey radio for Christmas one year. I think it goes great in this room.
Last but not least is my cutting table. This table came from my Grandma's attic when she lived in the country. It was in the attic when she moved into the house in 1947. I used this for my kitchen table for almost 25 years, then when we remodeled the kitchen and put in a bar to eat from, I moved the table to my sewing room. I love this table. (The Strawberry under the table belongs to my great niece! and the bowl and pitcher is something I just have'nt found a home for yet. It belonged to my great aunt Clara.
Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!
Blessings
Linda

Oh, I am drooling on the keyboard here! What a lovely room, and how wonderful that your husband can build cabinets for you! A small cot and a coffeemaker, and you'd only have to leave the room to potty! LOL

You have me drooling in jealousy. That is wonderful. I am glad to just have a room. But I have no good storage and just a put together by the seat of my pants workspace. Thanks for the wonderful tour and good ideas.

Super! Totally great! I can't say enough. It's wonderful to see a room so well equipped for its use.

And aren't we lucky to have husbands who can do such things as build cabinets! Please congratulate him on all he did, for this process.

Oh Linda, what a delightful craft room and look at all that cupboard space!! Seeing your built in ironing board made me gasp because that's the one thing I remember the most my mom having in the little house I was born and raised in! It was in the kitchen and I loved opening the door and seeing her put down the ironing board:-) I hadn't seen one of those since then!! xox

Oh, my -- I am trying very hard not to be envious!! :-) I've always wanted a sewing/craft room but will probably have to wait til my oldest leaves the nest. I think I will bookmark this post for some good ideas when the time comes. The whole thing is just gorgeous!

Wow, that's cool, a special room just for sewing and crafting! Well, I have a room for my own, too but in the evenings after I get back to the office, I prefer the company of my DH and that's why I am sewing, crafting (and blogging) in our living room!

Oh by the way, I am so excited tonight because my "new" sewing machine will arrive tomorrow! We found a very special antique seweing machine on ebay last week. I will put it outside in the garden and use for displaying my decorations and pottery! :-))

Best wishes, Anita

ooooh-am I DROOLING over here or what. Can someone DROWN in their own drool? Is this a life-threatening situation, I am in?

That craft room is the Taj Mahal of ALL craft rooms. It is amazing.

Beautiful, utilitarian, decorative, and sentimental all wrapped into one LOVELY package.

When we moved into this three bedroom house, I decided that the smallest bedroom-probably seven by seven-would be my craft room since the children are young enough to sleep together (and enjoy it!). I was in HEAVEN as I had always been forced to use my table (our ONLY table) and clean it up before meals. UGH-was that a NIGHTMARE.

Funny, I was so contented with my filled-to-the-brim and ever-cluttered craft room until you shared yours! :-)

I LOVE the ironing board in the wall...and yearn for the day I can own one of those. My children make me SO nervous because they love to be WITH me in my already cluttered and small space-and the ironing board IS wobbly. ACK!

Great job on the cabinets too-Linda's husband. You must be a treasure to have around! :-)

Thanks for sharing your LOVELY room Linda-and I look forward to you sharing some projects in the future! ;-)
