Vacation Fun!

So far, vacation has been wonderful! It has been a little hot, 95 degrees, but we have been on the lake and if we get too hot we just jump in and cool off. We are just hanging around the house, boating, jetskiing, and generally doing everything we want to do!

Yngwie had a friend over yesterday for some tubing. Yngwie can't seem to let go of a guitar long enough to do anything. Actually the guitar is just a "junk" one that was already broken. It doesn't even have a back to it, but still plays. They got a lot of strange looks from other boaters!
(The 5150 on the guitar is from a Van Halen song. It is apparently the code for someone who is insane.)

We went up to the Smith Mtn. Lake Dam. This is the whole reason there is a Smith Mtn. lake. SML is a man-made lake. It was 20 years in the planning before they actually started filling the lake in 1964. There is 500 miles of shoreline. The dam supplies power to many counties. My husbands great-grandparents and my great-grandparents houses were bought my APCO in the 1960's and were burned to make way for the lake. My great aunt remembers when they started filling the lake and said they would stand and watch watermelons, roofs, outhouses, etc. float by. There are still trees standing upright in some parts of the lake. My Dad has an old "movie" (filmstrip) showing him water skiing around the trees in the water.
The dam area is really very beautiful. One of the few places that hasn't been developed. Yet.

Hope everyone has a blessed day.

Linda

Well, I can't say I've ever seen anyone playing a guitar while tubing but hey, there's always a first time! hehe Love it!! I'm so glad to hear that you're having a wonderful time...very lucky to be able to jump in the lake whenever you want to, to cool off:-) xox

Looks like fun! I just kept praying "Lord, don't let him drop that gueitar into the lake!" LOL

I haven't been here to visit you in awhile, so I caught up a bit. I LOVED the 1961 Sear's catalogue! Awesome! It looked to be in such good condition, pristine!
